Knicks fall at home to Cavs 102-96

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 14 November 2006 at 10:25 am

When your starting guards are 1 for 10 from the floor for 5 points (Francis & Marbury), it’s hard to win the game, and the Knicks didn’t!  Nate Robinson led the way with 19 points off of the bench.  Jamal Crawford also came off of the bench and poured in 18 points.  Channing Frye had a solid game with 17 points & 9 rebounds.  Quentin Richardson (14 points), Eddy Curry (13 points, 7 rebounds) and David Lee (10 points) all added to the offense of the Knicks.

The Knicks are a bunch of individuals who don’t play well as a team.  The Knicks have fallen to 2-6 on the season.

Knicks lose to Spurs 100-92

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Sunday 12 November 2006 at 10:01 am

The Knicks had huge problems on defense, allowing the Spurs to hit 50.7% of their shots.  The Knicks also were out-rebounded 46-38 last night.  Those two factors were the key reason that they lost.  Quentin Richardson led the Knicks with 21 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals.  Jamal Crawford played well again with 18 points and 5 assists.  Eddy Curry scored 15 points & grabbed 7 rebounds.  Nate Robinson came off of the bench with 13 points.  Stephon Marbury only scored 12 points and he played horrible defense on Tony Parker (33 points) last night.  David Lee was solid off of the bench again with 8 points & 8 rebounds.

The Knicks played hard but it wasn’t enough as the Knicks fell to 2-5.

Centers

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 11 November 2006 at 9:33 pm

Eddy Curry is the softest 6’11″, 285 pound player in the NBA.  That’s a shame too because Curry has big-time skills but he’s like the Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz.  Curry has averaged 12.2 points & 5.1 rebounds per game over his NBA career.  If Thomas can motivate him look out!  If not, he’ll be no better than he has been already in his career and will get pushed around all over the court.

The Knicks signed Kelvin Cato to be the back-up.  Cato doesn’t have much of an offensive game, but he’s a good rebounder and defender.  Cato has averaged 5.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game over his career.

Jerome James has been a huge disappointment for the Knicks after they signed him to a big-money contract after he played well in the playoffs two years ago for the Sonics.  James doesn’t play hard every night and quickly has earned a place in the Knicks doghouse.  James has averaged 4.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game over his career.

Small Forwards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 11 November 2006 at 9:23 pm

Quentin Richardson will be the starter at small forward for the Knicks.  Richardson is a good offensive player, and a good three-point shooter that helps stretch the defense when he’s on the court.  Richardson has averaged 12.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game in his career.

David Lee will be the back-up for the Knicks.  Lee is a hustler and good rebounder that brings a good energy level off of the bench.  Lee averaged 5.1 points & 4.5 rebounds as a rookie.  Look for him to improve his production this season with a little more playing time.

Renaldo Balkman was a huge reach in the first round as many had him projected to be a second-rounder, if drafted at all.  He probably won’t get much playing time this season.

Jared Jeffries was signed to be the starter for the Knicks, but he broke his wrist in the pre-season.  Jeffries is a good defensive player and that’s what the Knicks were looking for.  Jeffries has averaged 6.1 points. 4.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game over his career.

Knicks beat-up by Rockets 103-94

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 11 November 2006 at 12:26 pm

The Knicks got out-rebounded 45-33 and didn’t play any defense allowing the Rockets to shoot 54.8% from the floor.  Stephon Marbury led the way with 22 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists.  Jamal Crawford had another good game after moving into the starting line-up with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists.  Quentin Richardson had a solid game with 16 points & 5 assists.  David Lee was solid off of the bench again with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals.

The Knicks just couldn’t deal with Yao who scored 35 points, snatched 17 rebounds and blocked 7 shots last night against them last night.  Eddy Curry needs to find some courage under the boards and use his size to his advantage.  The Knicks are now 2-4 on the season.

Stevie Francis to miss some time

Blogged under Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Thursday 9 November 2006 at 10:38 am

Stevie Francis will be out indefinately with a sprained ankle.  Francis has averaged 10.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game this season.  Jamal Crawford will take his place until he can return.

Knicks win 109-107 over Nuggets

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 9 November 2006 at 10:34 am

Jamal Crawford got to start the game because Stevie Francis was out with a sprained ankle and he wound up being the start of the game.  Crawford hit the game-winning three pointer with little time left on the clock.  Crawford scored 35 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, dished out 7 assists and stole the ball twice.  Quentin Richardson continued his solid play with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.  Stephon Marbury scored 10 points and dished out 6 assists.  The bench played a major role in the Knicks victory last night.  David Lee was outstanding as he scored 10 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 4 assists.  Nate Robinson provided instant offense off of the bench with 13 points.  Malik Rose gave the Knicks impressive minutes off of the bench with 10 points & 5 rebounds.

The Knicks shot a sizzling 50% from the floor and out-rebounded the Nuggets 46-37 and that’s why the Knicks won the game and mover their record to 2-3 this season.

Knicks whacked by Spurs 105-93

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 7 November 2006 at 3:27 pm

The Knicks showed some heart in this game as they made a huge comeback in this game to cut the Spurs lead to one point late in the game, then it seemed as if the Spurs flipped a switch and dominated the rest of the game.  Stephon Marbury led the way with 18 points.  Nate Robinson had a huge 4th quarter and helped the Knicks come back with 15 points.  Quentin Richardson added 14 points.  Center Eddy Curry finally started showing some toughness, scoring 13 points and adding 11 rebounds.

A loss is a loss, but the Knicks at least showed some heart in the 4th quarter before fading.

Power Forwards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 6 November 2006 at 4:02 pm

Second year player Channing Frye will be the starter at power forward for the Knicks this season.  Frye only needs to get a little tougher under the basket to be a very good NBA player.  Frye only averaged playing a little more than half of a game (24.2 minutes), but he averaged 12.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.  With the extra minutes the Knicks hope he will put up big numbers for them.

Malik Rose has been a tough reserve throughout his career, even though he hasn’t averaged alot of playing time in his career (17.6 minutes per game).  Rose is tough around the basket, and has averaged 6.8 points & 4.5 rebounds per game over his career.

Knicks fade in 4th quarter and lose 109-95 to Pacers

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Sunday 5 November 2006 at 9:25 am

The Knicks got beat 32-19 in the 4th quarter as the Pacers depth wore out the Knicks.  Stevie Francis finally decided to play a good game this season, scoring 25 points, grabbing 6 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists.  Center Eddy Curry scored 22 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.  Quentin Richardson continued his fine play this season with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.  Nate Robinson contined to be instant offense off of the bench with 13 points.

The Knicks need to play better defense as they allowed the Pacers to hit 52.3% of their shots, if they want to win basketball games.
