Frye playing better after return from injury

Blogged under Front Page,Steppin Up by Nothing but Net on Friday 29 December 2006 at 10:49 pm

Channing Frye hurt himself early in the season and missed some time.  He’s just now starting to get his shot down.  Frye is averaging 26.7 minutes, 10.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game so far this season.  If Frye can improve on his shooting and shot selection in general his shooting % should improve (41%) which will also spike his scoring average.

Great shooting leads Knicks to 151-145 win in 3 OTs over the Pistons

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Thursday 28 December 2006 at 11:46 pm

The Knicks shot an incredible 56.3% from the floor in this victory.  Stephon Marbury did a great job of running the offense with 41 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists.  Eddy Curry had a great game near the basket with 33 points and 7 rebounds.  Jamal Crawford had a very good all-around game with 29 points, 4 rebounds and 11 assists.  Channing Frye had a good game with 26 points and 7 rebounds.  David Lee was really tough around the rim with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

This was a huge win for the Knicks as they improve to 13-18 on the season.

The Knicks never really had a chance in this game against the Sixers.  Jamal Crawford had a nice game with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.  David Lee came to play, as he always does, and had 10 points and 13 rebounds.  Renaldo Balkman had a solid game off the bench with 10 points and 5 rebounds.

The Knicks fell to 12-18 on the season with this loss.

Knicks want the game more and beat the Bulls 103-92

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 23 December 2006 at 10:56 am

The Knicks outrebounded the Bulls 57-36 on their way to victory.  The Knicks were still undermanned due to the suspensions from the big fight with the Nuggets.  Jamal Crawford led the way for the Knicks with 30 points and 4 assists.  Eddy Curry also had a strong game with 20 points and 6 rebounds.  Stephon Marbury had another bad shooting night (6 of 19) but wound up with 19 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists.  The young guys were the glass cleaners for the Knicks last night.  Channing Frye (15 points, 12 rebounds) and David Lee (12 points, 14 rebounds) both played outstanding last night.

The Knicks improved to 12-17 on the season with this win.

Knicks get incredible win in 2 OTs over the Bobcats 111-109

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Friday 22 December 2006 at 11:55 pm

The Knicks were playing short-handed because of all the suspensions levied on them by the NBA, so every starter on the Knicks played at least 47 minutes!  Channing Frye led the way for the Knicks with 30 points and 6 rebounds in 50 minutes.  Eddy Curry logged 47 minutes and scored 29 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.  Jamal Crawford played an amazing 54 minutes and scored 25 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 9 assists.  David Lee scored 10 points and snatched 19 rebounds in 49 minutes of play.  Stephon Marbury played in 53 minutes and had a rough night shooting the ball as he hit only 2 of 12 shots from the floor and wound up with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists.

The Knicks improved to 11-17 on the season with this amazing win.

Knicks bench to be thin with suspensions

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 19 December 2006 at 5:33 am

The amazing thing about the suspensions handed down by the NBA is that they didn’t include Knicks’ head coach Isiah Thomas.  It seems pretty clear that he pretty much ordered the Knicks to foul hard at the end of the game the other night.  Remember, as a player he might have played on one of dirtiest teams of all-time….the Bad Boys Pistons teams.  The depth of the Knicks will be tested the next few games, but they will come out of this much better than the Nuggets did.  Reserve point guard Nate Robinson was suspended for 10 games.  He will be missed a little bit because he provides instant offense off the bench for the Knicks.  He’s averaging 9.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game so far this season.  Rookie Mardy Collins, the instigator of the whole mess, was suspended for 6 games.  He won’t be much of a loss for the Knicks as he’s only averaging 1.5 points per game so far.   Jared Jeffries was suspended for four games.  He had just come back from injury and had moved into the starting line-up and was averaging 9.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.  He will be missed a little bit, but second-year man David Lee should pick up the slack for the Knicks.  Jerome James was suspended for 1 game, but he won’t be much of a loss as he’s only averaging 2.1 points per game and has been in the Knicks dog house since they signed him as a free-agent.

Knicks nip the Jazz 97-96

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 19 December 2006 at 3:29 am

The Knicks out-rebounded the Jazz 63-49 and held them to 36.7% shooting from the floor.  Stephon Marbury had a great game as he led the Knicks with 29 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists.  Jamal Crawford also had a decent game with 18 points, 4 assists and 3 steals.  David Lee was a monster on the glass as he scored 17 points and snatched up 20 rebounds.  Channing Frye had a solid game with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Knicks improved to 10-17 on the season with this win.

Knicks get blasted by the Nuggets 123-100

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Sunday 17 December 2006 at 2:56 am

The Knicks played no defense as they allowed the Nuggets to hit 57% of their shots from the floor.  Can’t blame Stephon Marbury for the Knicks weak effort as he scored 31 points and dished out 8 assists.  Eddy Curry backed him up with 19 points.  Channing Frye returned to the starting line-up after missing a couple of games and scored 10 points, snatched 5 rebounds and blocked 4 shots.  David Lee was great off the bench with 12 points and 15 rebounds.  Nate Robinson also provided firepower off the bench with 17 points.

The Knicks fell to 9-17 with this loss.  The Knicks are facing a few suspensions after an ugly fight at the end of this game.  10 players were ejected from the game from both teams combined.

Knicks smoked by Pacers 112-96

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 16 December 2006 at 10:33 am

The Pacers plastered the Knicks 70-44 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters combined and that did the Knicks in.  Jamal Crawford led the way with 29 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.  David Lee played a good game off the bench with 12 points and 8 rebounds.  Nate Robinson added 12 points off the bench.  Eddy Curry had an off-night with 10 points.

The Knicks fell to 9-16 with this loss.

Eddy Curry is finally steppin up

Blogged under Front Page,Steppin Up by Nothing but Net on Friday 15 December 2006 at 9:48 pm

Eddy Curry has suddenly found a heart.  He also has had the big body and the talent to be a big star, but he was sorely lacking in courage and toughnes in the paint.  That has changed this season as he is averaging 18.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per game so far this season.  He’s shooting an outstanding 55.4% from the floor.  He needs to improve his free-throw shooting however, as he’s only hit 55.6% from the free-throw line.  He needs to improve at the line because he’s getting alot of opportunities because of his aggressive play under the basket.
