Crawford injury will have a domino effect on the Knicks playing rotation

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up by alleyoop on Tuesday 27 February 2007 at 7:16 pm

With Crawford’s injury, starting small forward Quentin Richardson will now move to shooting guard to take Crawford’s place in the starting line up.  Richardson is having a good season as he’s averaging 12.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.  The problem won’t be Richardson replacing Crawford……it will be Jared Jeffries starting at small forward in place of Richardson.  The Knicks gave Jeffries a lot of money when they signed him in the off season and he has not produced at all.  Jeffries is only averaging 3.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game this season.  He will have to pick it up on offense or the Knicks could have problems scoring points the rest of the way.  Nate Robinson will also see a bump in playing time and he must produce when he’s on the court.  Robinson is averaging 8.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 18 minutes per game.

The Knicks suffer a huge injury

Blogged under Big Knicks News,Bloglockers,Front Page,Injuries by alleyoop on Tuesday 27 February 2007 at 7:07 pm

Starting Shooting Guard Jamal Crawford will miss the remainder of the season with a stress fracture in his right ankle.  This is a huge blow to the Knicks as Crawford was having a fine season for them and was a big reason they have been competing for the playoffs all season long.  Crawford played in 58 games this season and he averaged 37.9 minutes, 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.

The Knicks seemed to want this game more than the Heat did last night and that’s why they won.  Eddy Curry had an outstanding game with 28 points and 11 rebounds.  Stephon Marbury had a decent game running the offense with 25 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.  Jamal Crawford also had a decent game with 20 points and 6 assists.

The game last night looked like it was heading to OT, but the refs went to video and put 0.8 seconds back on the clock + Channing Frye on the foul line.  He made both tosses and that sealed the victory for the Knicks.  Jamal Crawford led the way for the Knicks with 22 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists.  Stephon Marbury had a very solid game running the offense with 22 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists.

The Knicks were outrebounded 41-32 by the Sixers who shot 55.1% from the floor and that explains how the Knicks got their butts handed to them earlier tonight.  Eddy Curry led the way for the Knicks with 22 points and 7 rebounds.  Jamal Crawford had a horrible shooting night (3 of 12) but he wound up with 14 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists.  Renaldo Balkman had a great game off of the bench with 13 points and 7 rebounds in only 23 minutes.

Knicks better than anticipated in the first half of the season

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 20 February 2007 at 1:44 pm

The Knicks are sitting at 23-30 on the season which is good for third place in the Atlantic Division, 6 games behind division leading Toronto.  More importantly, the Knicks are only 3.5 games behind the #8 seed Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference.  The Knicks might be looking to add at the trade deadline as they are looking for a good rebounder (Drew Gooden of the Cavs has been mentioned) to help out along their front line.  Isiah Thomas has done a great job of motivating the Knicks who are a talented bunch of players….but the roster has a lot of head cases on it.

The Knicks played no defense last night as the Warriors shot 60% from the floor and that’s why the Knicks got blown out!  Nate Robinson led the way for the Knicks off the bench with 23 points as he hit 4 of 6 from three-point range.  David Lee also was a monster off the bench with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
