The New York Knicks acquire Patrick Ewing Jr. from the Rockets
The Knicks have acquired rookie forward Patrick Ewing Jr. for the draft rights to center Frederic Weis. Patrick Ewing Jr. is nowhere near the player his father was but the price was right to bring him to the team where his dad was a all-time great. Ewing played in 127 games (26 starts) in his college career at Georgetown and Indiana. He averaged only 4.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game in his college career. He will likely be sitting at the far end of the Knicks’ bench as a rookie. Frederic Weis was the 15th pick in the first round of the 1999 NBA Draft for the Knicks and he has no intentions of ever playing for them. Even if the Rockets talk him into playing for them he will likely never have much of a impact in the NBA. He played in 9 games in France last season and he only averaged 14.7 minutes, 2.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.
