Danilo Gallinari has been a huge disappointment for the New York Knicks so far

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Report, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 27 November 2008 at 2:44 am

Knicks’ fans roundly booed the drafting of small forward Danilo Gallinari last June and he has done nothing to win them over. He has played in 2 games for the Knicks this season and he has averaged 5.7 minutes, 1.0 point, 0.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. Gallinari is hurt right now and it will be interesting to see if he does anything positive as a rookie for the Knicks this season.

The New York Knicks trade Jamal Crawford to the Warriors

In a second trade that will make the Knicks a worse team in 2008-09 they have traded 28-year old guard Jamal Crawford to the Knicks for 28-year old forward Al Harrington. Crawford played in 11 games (all starts) for the Knicks this season and he averaged 35.6 minutes, 19.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. He has now played in 544 games (340 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 32.0 minutes, 14.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game.

Al Harrington played in 5 games (all starts) for the Warriors this season and he averaged 33.2 minutes, 12.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He has now played in 661 games (375 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 29.4 minutes, 13.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. Harrington could excel in Mike D’Antoni’s fast paced offense but he will be hard pressed to put up numbers like Crawford could have in this offense.

The New York Knicks trade Zach Randolph to the Clippers

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Knicks News, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 26 November 2008 at 11:04 pm

The Knicks have traded 27-year old power forward Zach Randolph and 24-year old guard Mardy Collins to the Clippers for 33-year old guard Cuttino Mobley and 31-year old forward Tim Thomas. This trade was made to help the salary cap situation for the Knicks in 2010 when LeBron James could be available as well as Dwyane Wade and a All-Star cast. Randolph played in 11 games (all starts) for the Knicks and he averaged 35.3 minutes, 20.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Randolph has now played in 467 games (345 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 29.6 minutes, 16.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.6 assist per game. Collins played in 9 games (0 starts) for the Knicks this season and he has averaged 8.3 minutes, 2.2 points, 0.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Collins has now played in 107 games (19 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 13.9 minutes, 3.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

Cuttino Mobley and Tim Thomas are both solid veterans but the Knicks didn’t get nowhere near a fair trade right here. Mobley played in 11 games (all starts) for the Clippers this season and he averaged 33.2 minutes, 13.7 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He has now played in 747 games (581 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 37.0 minutes, 16.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Tim Thomas played in 10 games (5 starts) for the Clippers this season and he has averaged 9.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. He has now played in 753 games (406 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 26.6 minutes, 11.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
