The New York Knicks will be without Eddy Curry for a while

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Injuries, Front Page by alleyoop on Monday 18 January 2010 at 12:46 pm

Back-up center Eddy Curry will miss at least the next six weeks due to knee surgery. He shouldn’t be much of a loss to the Knicks as he wasn’t playing much this season. He has played in 7 games (0 starts) for the Knicks this season and he is averaging 8.9 minutes, 3.7 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. The Knicks will probably let Curry take his good old sweet time in getting better.

Danilo Gallinari is stepping up for the New York Knicks

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Monday 18 January 2010 at 9:40 am

21-year old forward Danilo Gallinari is really playing well in his second season for the Knicks. He has played in 39 games (32 starts) for the Knicks this season and he is averaging 31.7 minutes, 14.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Gallinari is a good outside shooter as he has hit 40.6% of his shots from three-point range already this season. His outside shot makes opposing big men guard him outside opening up the paint for David Lee to dominate.

David Lee is a double-double machine for the New York Knicks

David Lee has been one of the few players on the New York Knicks’ roster that has played consistently this season and he goes for a double-double nearly every night.  So far this season, Lee has 20 double-doubles, which is sixth best in the league behind superstars Chris Bosh (28), Dwight Howard (27), Carlos Boozer (24), Zach Randolph (23), and Steve Nash (23).  Lee makes an impact on both ends of the court, averaging 19.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.1 steals.  At 6′9″ Lee is shorter than most centers in the league, but he is a very good athlete and has a strong 250-pound frame.  Lee goes hard night-in and night-out for the Knicks, and there are more than a few players on the Knicks that could take note from Lee’s hard work and intensity.  Lee will be a free-agent after this season and will be looking for a long-term deal worth at least $12 million a year.  The Knicks should pay Lee what he wants since he has earned it, but there are quite a few teams out there that would love to have Lee on their roster.

Wilson Chandler is turning into a nice player for the New York Knicks

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Monday 11 January 2010 at 11:23 pm

Wilson Chandler is really turning into a solid player for the Knicks. Chandler has played in 36 games (all starts) for the Knicks this season and he is averaging 35.1 minutes, 15.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. Chandler appears like he will be a bright part of the future for the Knicks.

The New York Knicks aren’t playing their rookies much this year

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Report, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 7 January 2010 at 11:20 am

The Knicks aren’t playing their rookies that much this season and I believe it’s because they have an eye on making the playoffs this season in the very weak Eastern Conference and that’s a good thing. Back-up shooting guard Toney Douglas is the one rookie the Knicks have who should probably be playing more right now. He has played in 25 games (2 starts) for the Knicks this season and he is averaging 13.0 minutes, 6.5 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game this year. Power forward Jordan Hill has played well when he has gotten the chance to play which hasn’t been too often. Hill has played in 11 games (0 starts) for the Knicks this season and he is averaging 8.4 minutes, 3.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game on 52.8% shooting from the floor. Back-up small forward Marcus Landry is buried on the depth chart right now. He has played in 10 games (0 starts) for the Knicks this season and he is averaging 6.4 minutes, 2.8 points and 1.0 rebound per game. I can’t see the Knicks playing any of these guys much more unless they suffer injuries, go on a long losing streak or make some trades to open up playing time for them.
