24-year old small forward Shawne Williams didn’t play last season due to off the court issues.  This was likely Williams’ last shot in the NBA and he’s been taking advantage of it so far.  Williams has played in 13 games (0 starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 13.4 minutes, 5.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.  He is shooting 57.8% from the floor and he has nailed 15 of 22 (68.2%) shots from three point range so far which is amazing.  Here’s to hoping that Williams says on the right path with the Knicks so that he can live up to his potential.

22-year old small forward Danilo Gallinari is starting to heat up with his shooting stroke.  He has played in 11 games so far in December and he is averaging 36.9 minutes, 15.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.  Gallinari is shooting 44.2% from the floor and 39.7% from three point range which is a nice improvement over the first two months of the year.  Gallinari has now played in 30 games (all starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 34.6 minutes, 15.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.  The Knicks need Gallinari to keep shooting well as he helps the offense spread the floor when he’s got his stroke going.

The New York Knicks have to be happy with their rookies

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by admin on Thursday 23 December 2010 at 2:45 am

The Knicks didn’t have a first round pick last June but they still did well in the NBA Draft.  That is because 22-year old shooting guard Landry Fields has been excellent so far this year.  Fields has played in 28 games (all starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 31.9 minutes, 10.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game.  Fields is also shooting 51.4% from the floor which is downright outstanding for a guard in the NBA.  The Knicks better think twice about including Fields in a deal for Carmelo Anthony.  24-year old Timofey Mozgov has been playing overseas after the Knicks drafted him before last June.  He has played in 23 games (9 starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 10.8 minutes, 2.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.  Mozgov is only shooting 36.5% from the floor and 65% from the free throw line so far this year and that will need to improve if he wants to start getting more minutes.  24-year old shooting guard Andy Rautins has only played in 2 games (0 starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he has scored 3 points and he has 1 assist.
