Toney Douglas is ice cold for the New York Knicks right now

Blogged under Blogroll,Front Page,General,Need to step up by admin on Monday 31 January 2011 at 12:09 am

Due to some injuries, the Knicks have given 24-year old guard Toney Douglas more P.T. and he isn’t doing anything at all with it.  In his last five games, Douglas is averaging 24.6 minutes, 6.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.  Douglas is only shooting 29.5% from the floor and 21.1% from three point range in his last 5 games and that’s unacceptable.  He has now played in 45 games (1 start) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 22.8 minutes, 8.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game.  Douglas is only shooting 38.8% from the floor and 34.1% from three point range so far this year.  Don’t be surprised if the Knicks are looking for some backup guards at the trade deadline.

The New York Knicks are happy with their rookies

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by admin on Friday 21 January 2011 at 11:26 pm

The Knicks didn’t really expect much out of their rookies this year.  22-year old shooting guard Landry Fields was a 2nd round pick but he’s playing better than almost anyone taken ahead of him.  Fields has played in 41 games (all starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 32.1 minutes, 10.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game.  The Knicks are very, very happy with Fields so far this year and they hope he doesn’t hit a rookie wall in the second half of the 2010-11 season.  24-year old center Timofey Mozgov made the Knicks wait a couple of years before signing with them.  He has played in 26 games (9 starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 10.0 minutes, 2.3 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.4 assists per  game.  He is only shooting 37.3% from the floor and 65.4% from the free throw line which is the main reason that his playing time has dried up in January.  Mozgov has only played in 2 games for the Knicks so far this month (they have played 9 games) and he is averaging 4.0 minutes, 2.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in those games.  24-year old shooting guard Andy Rautins hasn’t gotten off the bench much so far this year.  He has played in 3 games (0 starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 5.0 minutes, 1.7 points and 0.7 assists per game.  Rautins is buried on the depth chart so don’t expect his P.T. to increase any time soon.

Ronny Turiaf is playing pretty well in January for the New York Knicks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 21 January 2011 at 11:20 pm

When the Knicks want to go to a bigger lineup they have been using 28-year old Ronny Turiaf at center.  He has played in 8 games so far this January and he is averaging 20.5 minutes, 5.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 blocked shots per game.  Turiaf is shooting an amazing 66.7% from the floor so far this month (18 of 27).  He has now played in 33 games (10 starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 18.7 minutes, 4.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 blocked shots per game.  The Knicks should consider giving Turiaf more minutes going forward as he is a good defender and rebounder which are two things they lack.
