Bernard King was instant offense for the New York Knicks

Small forward Bernard King only played four seasons with the Knicks.  He had a hard time staying healthy, but when he played, he was a scoring machine.  His best season with the Knicks came in 1984-85 when he led the NBA in scoring average with a mark of 32.9 per game.  He played in 55 games (all starts) for the Knicks in 1984-85, and he averaged 37.5 minutes, 32.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game.  King played in 206 games (203 starts) in his four years with the Knicks and he averaged 34.7 minutes, 26.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game.  He had one of the greatest turnaround jumpers from the baseline that I have ever seen as he had a lightning quick release.

Carmelo Anthony was solid for the New York Knicks in 2010-11

27-year old small forward Carmelo Anthony got his wish when the Nuggets dealt him to the Knicks at the trade deadline.  Anthony played in 27 games (all starts) for the Knicks last year during the regular season and he averaged 36.2 minutes, 26.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.  He played in 77 games (all starts) overall for the Knicks & Nuggets last year and he averaged 35.7 minutes, 25.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.  Anthony played in all 4 games for the Knicks in the playoffs and he averaged 38.8 minutes, 26.0 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.3 blocked shots per game.  Anthony has now played in 591 games (all starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 36.4 minutes, 24.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game.  The Knicks have put almost all of their eggs in the basket of Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire and Chauncey Billups, to they need the veterans to carry the team going forward.

Mike D’Antoni is going to be on the hot seat going forward for the New York Knicks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by admin on Tuesday 17 May 2011 at 4:08 pm

60-year old head coach Mike D’Antoni is probably running out of time as the Knicks’ head coach unless he turns things around soon.  He was doing a solid job for the Knicks this year until the Carmelo Anthony deal.  Anthony is in N.Y. to stay, so D’Antoni will have to adjust if he wants to keep his job much longer.  D’Antoni led the Knicks to a 42-40 (51.2%) record last year and he was 0-4 in the playoffs.  He now has a regular season record of 103-143 (41.9%) in his three years as the Knicks’ head coach and he is 0-4 in the playoffs.  D’Antoni now has a career record as a head coach of 370-315 (54%) during the regular season and he is 26-29 (47.3%) in the playoffs.  He is now on the hot seat in New York, so the Knicks better not only make the playoffs…but they better advance a round or two.

Amare Stoudemire had a outstanding first season with the New York Knicks

28-year old power forward Amare Stoudemire had a outstanding first year with the Knicks.  Stoudemire played in 78 games (all starts) for the Knicks last year and he averaged 36.8 minutes, 25.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.9 blocked shots per game.  He will now likely have to settle in as the #2 option offensively on the Knicks behind Carmelo Anthony, but I don’t think that will be much of a problem as Stoudemire is a team player.  He has now played in 594 games (577 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 34.6 minutes, 21.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocked shots as he has had a really good career to date.
