The New York Knicks are getting solid production from their rookies so far

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by admin on Thursday 12 January 2012 at 12:29 am

The Knicks didn’t look like they had much of a draft class last June.  But, 22-year old guard Iman Shumpert and 22-year old center Josh Harrellson have had some decent games so far this year.  Shumpert has already pushed his way into the starting lineup at point guard over Toney Douglas.  Shumpert has played in 5 games (2 starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 30.4 minutes, 13.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game.  He will likely keep the starting job until Baron Davis is ready to return to action as long as he keeps playing well.  Josh Harrellson is only shooting 32.4% from the floor, which is pretty awful for a player his size.  But, he has given the Knicks some decent production so far this year.  He has played in 9 games (2 starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 18.7 minutes, 3.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.  Harrellson is the lone legit big man on the bench for the Knicks, so look for him to continue getting his fair share of minutes going forward.  25-year old center Jerome Jordan hasn’t had much of a chance to show what he can do so far this year.  He has played in 5 games (0 starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 5.0 minutes, 0.8 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game.
