Amare Stoudemire is going to miss some time for the New York Knicks
29-year old power forward Amare Stoudemire is going to be out for a little while due to the death of his older brother Hazell (35 years old). Hazell was killed in a car accident. Stoudemire has played in 22 games (all starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 34.4 minutes, 18.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game. The Knicks are going to give him as much time as he needs to comfort this family in this time of tragedy. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Stoudemire family for their loss. 30-year old Jared Jeffries will keep Stoudemire’s starting job warm for him until he’s ready to return to action. Jeffries has played in 15 games (1 start) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 20.5 minutes, 4.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. Jeffries is only shooting 34.9% from the floor so far this year. He is a good defensive player, but the Knicks’ offense is going to be hurting until Stoudemire is ready to return to action.
