The New York Knicks sign J.R. Smith
The Knicks have signed 26-year old shooting guard J.R. Smith. Smith played in 79 games (6 starts) for the Nuggets last year and he averaged 24.9 minutes, 12.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game. He has now played in 503 games (129 starts) in his first 7 years in the NBA and he is averaging 23.9 minutes, 12.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Smith is going to challenge Landry Fields for P.T. at shooting guard as early as this Sunday, so Fields is going to have to step up his game if he wants to continue starting at shooting guard.
