The New York Knicks lose Jared Jeffries for the next couple of weeks

30-year old forward Jared Jeffries will likely be out at least the next two weeks due to inflammation in his right knee.  Jeffries has played in 33 games (4 starts) for the Knicks so far this year and he is averaging 20.3 minutes, 4.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.  The Knicks are going to miss Jeffries’ defense while he is out of action.

The Knicks outrebounded the Pistons 54-30 last night and it helped them win easily last night.  Amare Stoudemire led the way for the Knicks last night with 17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocked shots.  Carmelo Anthony (15 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal) and Tyson Chandler (15 points, 17 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot) also had rock solid games for the Knicks last night.  J.R. Smith (14 points) and Jeremy Lin (13 points) also pitched in for the Knicks last night.  The Knicks are now 24-25 on the year.

The Knicks shot 37.6% from the floor last night and they were outrebounded 45-39, which led to a rough road loss.  Amare Stoudemire led the way for the Knicks last night with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots.  Steve Novak also had a decent game as he finished up with 15 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist in 25 minutes on the floor.  Carmelo Anthony pitched in with 12 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot last night.  The Knicks are now 23-25 on the year.

The Knicks only shot 36.7% from the floor last night, but they outrebounded the Sixers 47-39 and they held them to 38.7% shooting from the floor.  Amare Stoudemire led the way for the Knicks last night with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot.  Jeremy Lin only shot 4 of 17 from the floor but he still finished up with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  Carmelo Anthony only shot 5 of 15 from the floor as he finished up with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists last night.  The Knicks are now 23-24 on the year.

The Knicks outrebounded the Raptors 46-30 last night and it was a big reason for the blowout win.  Amare Stoudemire (22 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot) and Jeremy Lin (18 points, 3 rebounds, 10 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot) led the way for the Knicks last night.  Carmelo Anthony (17 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals) and Tyson Chandler (17 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 blocked shots) also had rock solid games for the Knicks last night.  J.R. Smith pitched in with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot in 19 minutes pitched in with a good game off the bench last night.  The Knicks are now 22-24 on the year.

23-year old point guard Jeremy Lin has played in 9 games (all starts) so far in March and he is averaging 31.9 minutes, 15.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 2.0 steals per game.  He has now played in 31 games (21 starts) so far this year for the Knicks and he is averaging 26.6 minutes, 14.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.6 steals per game.  Lin is not the focal point of the Knicks’ offense anymore but he’s still a solid contributor, and I look for that to continue.

The Knicks outscored the Pacers 25-14 in the 4th quarter last night to prevail in Indiana.  Jeremy Lin led the way for the Knicks last night with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.  Amare Stoudemire (16 points, 8 rebounds and 1 steal) and Carmelo Anthony (16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists) also had solid games for the Knicks last night.  J.R. Smith pitched in with 11 points.  The Knicks are  now 21-24 on the year.

The Knicks were up 88-58 last night after three quarters before calling off the dogs last night.  Tyson Chandler (16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocked shots) and J.R. Smith (16 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in 27 minutes) led the way for the Knicks last night.  Jeremy Lin also had a decent game as he finished up with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in this game.  Carmelo Anthony and Steve Novak pitched in with 12 points apiece last night.  The Knicks are now 20-24 on the year.

The Knicks shot 53.8% from the floor last night and they held the Blazers to 37.3% from the floor in a rousing victory in Mike Woodson’s first game as the head coach.  J.R. Smith (23 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists) and Steve Novak (20 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 steal in 20 minutes) led the way for the Knicks in this game.  Amare Stoudemire also had a big game for the Knicks with 17 points and 8 rebounds last night.  Carmelo Anthony (16 points) and Ian Shumpert (16 points) also pitched in for the Knicks last night.  The Knicks are now 19-24 on the year.

Mike D’Antoni resigns as the head coach of the New York Knicks

60-year old head coach Mike D’Antoni has resigned from the New York Knicks.  D’Antoni was the scapegoat of the Knicks 18-24 (42.9%) record so far this year.  In his four years with the Knicks, D’Antoni compiled a regular season record of 121-167 (42%).  He was also 0-4 in the post-season as the head coach of the Knicks.  53-year old Mike Woodson will take over as the Knicks’ head coach the rest of this season.  He was last a head coach for the Atlanta Hawks in 2009-2010.  Woodson has a 206-286 (41.9%) record during the regular season in his six years as a head coach.  He got the Hawks to increase their regular season win total in each of the six years he coached them.  Woodson was also 11-18 (37.9%) in the playoffs for the Hawks.
